Press Release: Extrication on Concord Road

*****PRESS RELEASE*****

CITY OF BRENTWOOD

FIRE AND RESCUE

From:          Fire Chief Brian Goss
Date:          December 4, 2012
Subject:      Press Release: Extrication on Concord Road

Multi-Agency Vehicle Extrication on Concord Road

At approximately 1:00 p.m. this afternoon, Brentwood Fire & Rescue responded to a reported motor vehicle accident with entrapment on Concord Road between Nolensville Road and Forest Trail.  The incident occurred just inside the Brentwood city limits, but Metro Nashville also responded due to initial uncertainly regarding jurisdiction.  As it turns out this was very fortunate as the incident was highly technical and labor-intensive requiring equipment and manpower from both departments.  The vehicle involved was a commercial garbage truck which had left the roadway on a curve, traveled through the ditch, and came to rest partially overturned against a grove of trees.  The driver was removed quickly, but it took in excess of 30 minutes to extricate the passenger who had become trapped between the cab, the dashboard, and the trees.  Two Brentwood Engines, a Brentwood Rescue Truck, and three Metro Nashville units comprising over 20 personnel worked to free the entrapped patient.  BPD, Williamson EMS and Williamson EMA also provided assistance.  Once removed from the vehicle both patients were turned over to Williamson EMS for transport.  Extent of injuries is not known as of this time but do not appear life threatening.
