Thursday, May 1 at approximately 9:16 am:

C3, E4 and L1 were dispatched on an inside investigation at a local business.  BFR units arrived on scene to find a single story commercial structure with nothing showing.  C3 established command and made contact with a building occupant who indicated that there was a small fire inside the structure but it was extinguished.  E4 crew members investigated the area of origin while L1 crew members set up fans to assist with the removal of residual smoke.  The inside of the structure was checked with a TIC and no hazards were found.  Fire damage was confined to a small area and had caused minor damage.  After further investigation the cause of the fire was determined to be sunlight reflecting off a mirror.  With no further hazards, Command was terminated and all BFR units returned to service.

Friday, May 2 at approximately 11:23 am:

E1 was dispatched on a medical call for a report of an unconscious patient.  Initial dispatch information indicated a patient was found lying in a creek.  C3 also responded with E1.  BFR units arrived on scene to find one patient lying on the ground near a creek.  Crew members made contact with the patient and quickly began assessing them for injuries.  The patient was conscious but possibly suffering from hypothermia.  BFR crew members initiated hypothermic treatment as EMS arrived on scene.  EMS transported the patient to a local hospital and all BFR units returned to service.

Friday, May 2 at approximately 5:38 pm:

C3, E1 and E3 were dispatched on an inside investigation at a commercial structure.  All units arrived on scene to find a single story commercial structure with nothing showing.  C3 established command while E1 crew members investigated the inside of the structure.  A building occupant indicated there had been a small fire in the building but it was extinguished.  BFR personnel found a bathroom with obvious fire damage.  The ceiling and attic of the building were checked for possible extension but no hazards were found.  Electricity to the room was shut off to prevent any possibly re-ignition after the cause of the fire was determined to be a ceiling fan.  The owner of the building was advised to call an electrician before restoring power.  Once it was determined that there were no further hazards, Command was terminated and all BFR units returned to service.

Saturday, May 3 at approximately 4:13 pm:

E1 was dispatched on a report of a vehicle fire in a parking lot.  E1 arrived on scene to find a passenger vehicle with no visible fire.  E1 crew members investigated the vehicle and found significant fire damage to the interior of the vehicle.  A bystander had extinguished the fire in the vehicle by discharging a fire extinguisher through the sunroof prior to E1’s arrival.  Crew members disconnected the battery and applied water to the interior of the vehicle to ensure extinguishment.  Once all hazards were addressed, control of the scene was transferred to BPD and E1 returned to service.

Saturday, May 3 at approximately 6:32 pm:

E1, E2 and C3 were dispatched on a report of a brush fire near I-65.  E1 arrived on scene to find a 150ft strip of brush on fire.  C3 established command and requested L1 to respond for more manpower.  Crew members pulled 1 ¾” handlines to extinguish the fire.  Once the fire had been extinguished the cause of the fire was determined to be sparks from a broken truck on I-65.  With no further hazards, Command was terminated and all BFR units returned to service and quarters.
