9/11 Memorial Stair Climb

With each year that passes, the memory and reality of 9/11/01 fades a little further back in our minds. This is part of the reason 343 firefighters gather each year to climb the stairs of the Tennessee Tower at the Nashville 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. Just a few weeks ago, firefighters from 7 states and 63 different departments gathered to climb 110 floors in memory of the fallen 343 FDNY brothers. For the fourth year in a row, each firefighter climbed the 110 floors in full turnout gear and SCBA along with a lanyard containing a picture and name of one of the fallen.

Many families affected by loss 12 years ago still struggle with the pain caused by the attack on 9/11/01.The Stair Climb raises money that helps fund the FDNY Counseling Unit who is currently helping over 7,000 people still dealing directly with the aftermath of 9/11. Participating is a small way the fire community in and around Tennessee can help support those who lost so much. 10 members of Brentwood Fire Rescue climbed, and three volunteered in the Sept. 8th event.
