Fire Chief's Briefing for July 23 through July 28, 2013

Here is a summary of Brentwood Fire and Rescue’s emergency responses for the period of July 23 through July 28, 2013.
 
We responded to 32 emergency calls for service. 
 
These calls can be broken down into the following categories:
EMS/Rescue: 16
Service Call: 1
Good Intent: 3
False Call: 12
 
Here is an overview of significant events from this period’s activities:
 
Wednesday, July 24 at approximately 12:00 pm:
E3 and R1 were dispatched on a report of a vehicle accident with injuries.  E3 arrived on scene and found a two car, rear-end type collision.  All patients were out of the vehicle.  E3 personnel made contact with one patient complaining of multiple injuries.  E3 personnel immobilized the patient and continued to provide patient care.  R1 was cancelled and EMS arrived on scene.  E3 personnel assisted with loading the patient into the ambulance.  Once the patient had been transported and all hazards had been addressed E3 returned to service.  
 
Wednesday, July 24 at approximately 5:34 pm:
E1, E2 and C3 were dispatched on a report of smoke inside of a residential structure.  C3 arrived on scene and found a single story residence with nothing showing.  C3 established command and assigned E1 to investigate the inside of the residence.  E1 crew members entered and noted a haze and odor of smoke.  E2 arrived on scene and assisted with further investigation of the structure.  Thermal imaging cameras were used to examine all areas of the home.  E1 personnel noticed that the HVAC unit on the outside of the residence was not operating properly.  E1 and C3 personnel examined the inside of the unit and discovered the odor existed there as well.  Power to the unit was shut off and the homeowner was told to contact an HVAC repair company before restoring power.  Once all hazards were addressed, command was terminated and all BFR units returned to service.  
 
Thursday, July 25 at approximately 2:18 pm:
E3 was dispatched on a report of a spider bite.  E3 arrived on scene and began assessing the patient who was complaining of several symptoms.  E3 personnel obtained the patients vital signs and continued patient assessment using and EKG monitor.  EMS arrived on scene and the patient was loaded into the ambulance.  E3 personnel assisted EMS with further on scene patient care.  EMS transported the patient to a nearby hospital and E3 returned to service.
