Fire Chief's Briefing for July 5 through July 10, 2013



Here is a summary of Brentwood Fire and Rescue’s emergency responses for the period of July 5 through July 10, 2013.


We responded to 62 emergency calls for service.


These calls can be broken down into the following categories:

EMS/Rescue: 25

Hazardous Condition: 4

Service Call: 6

Good Intent: 4

False Call: 20

Severe Weather: 3


Here is an overview of significant events from this period’s activities:


Friday, July 5 at approximately 7:54 am:

E1 was dispatched to assist BPD with an investigation.  Initial dispatch information indicated that there was a suspicious package located behind a structure.  E1 arrived on scene and made contact with BPD.  E1 crew members used a thermal imaging camera to examine the package for a heat source.  BPD then further examined the package and found no hazard.  E1 was released from the scene by BPD and returned to service and quarters.


Wednesday, July 10 at approximately 7:16 am:

E1 was dispatched on a report of a fire alarm.  Initial dispatch information indicated that a smoke detector had been activated at a local hotel.   E1 arrived on scene to find a three story commercial structure with nothing showing.  E1 crew investigated the structure and found that an occupant had burned food on a stove in one of the rooms.  E1 crew assisted with ventilation of the room to remove the smoke.  Once the alarm was reset and all hazards were addressed E1 returned to service and quarters.


Wednesday, July 10 at approximately 8:50 am:

E11 was dispatched on a medical call in district 3 for a patient having a seizure.  E3 was on the scene of another incident so E11 was dispatched from Station 2.  E11 arrived on scene and personnel immediately began assessing the patient and obtaining vital signs.  The patient was responsive but unaware of what had occurred.  EMS arrived on scene and patient care was transferred.  E11 crew members assisted in moving the patient to the ambulance and continuing patient care.  Once EMS had left the scene E11 returned to service and quarters. 


Wednesday, July 10 at approximately 7:30 pm:

E1 was dispatched on a report of a tree that had fallen into a house.  E1 arrived on scene to find a tree that had fallen into a home due to severe weather that had moved through the area.  E1 crew members examined the home and found that portions of the roof were damaged but no major structural damage had occurred.  E1 made contact with a resident of the home via cell phone and informed them of the situation.  E1 crew members then removed several large branches from another residents driveway.  Once all hazards were addressed E1 returned to service and quarters.
