Fire Chief's Briefing for July 11 through July 16, 2013



Here is a summary of Brentwood Fire and Rescue’s emergency responses for the period of July 11 through July 16, 2013.


We responded to 59 emergency calls for service.


These calls can be broken down into the following categories:

EMS/Rescue: 37

Hazardous Condition: 1

Service Call: 2

Good Intent: 6

False Call: 13


Here is an overview of significant events from this period’s activities:


Friday, July 12 at approximately 4:59 am:

E2 was dispatched on a medical call for a report of a patient with chest pain.  E2 arrived on scene and made contact with the patient.  E2’s paramedic immediately began providing advanced life support including EKG assessment.  EMS arrived on scene and E2 crew members assisted in moving the patient to the ambulance.  E2 crew members assisted EMS with further advanced care including cardiac drug administration.  EMS transported the patient emergency traffic to a local medical facility.  E2 cleared the scene and returned to quarters. 


Sunday, July 14 at approximately 8:29 pm:

E3 was dispatched on a report of a motor vehicle crash with injuries.  Upon arrival E3 found a two car T-bone type collision with one patient still inside a vehicle.  E3 crew made patient contact and immediately began providing care.  The patient was checked for injuries and spinal immobilization was applied by E3 personnel.  EMS arrived on scene and patient care was transferred.  E3 assisted in moving the patient to the ambulance.  EMS transported the patient to a local medical facility.  E3 personnel checked the vehicles for any further hazards and remained on scene to assist BPD.  Once complete, E3 cleared the scene and returned to quarters.


Monday, July 15 at approximately 11:11 am:

E2 and R1 were dispatched on a report of a motor vehicle crash with injuries.  Initial dispatch information indicated that one driver was possibly entrapped in a vehicle.   E2 and R1 arrived on scene to find a two car T-bone type collision.  E2 established command.   E2 and R1 personnel located the occupants of both vehicles on the sidewalk and began providing care.  The driver of one vehicle indicated that they had to exit their vehicle from the passenger side door due to heavy damage to the driver’s side door.  E2 and R1 personnel applied spinal immobilization and began checking for further injuries.  EMS arrived on the scene and the patient was placed in the ambulance.  Once EMS left the scene E2 and R1 personnel assisted BFD with removing the vehicles and debris from the roadway.  BPD released E2 and R1 from the scene and command was terminated.   All units returned to service and quarters. 


Monday, July 15 at approximately 12:51 pm:
E3 was dispatched on a medical call for a report of a patient with a back injury.  E3 arrived on scene and found a patient lying on the floor of a mechanic’s shop.  E3 immediately immobilized the patient’s spine and began assessing the injury.  The patient advised they were attempting to lift and object and were struck with severe back pain.  EMS arrived on scene and patient care was transferred.  E3 assisted with loading the patient into the ambulance and establishing IV access.  Once EMS transported the patient E3 cleared the scene and returned to quarters.
