Fire Chief's Briefing for July 24 through July 29, 2014



Here is a summary of Brentwood Fire and Rescue’s emergency responses for the period of July 24 through July 29, 2014.


We responded to 39 emergency calls for service.


These calls can be broken down into the following categories:

Fire: 1

EMS/Rescue: 15

Hazardous Condition: 1

Service Call: 1

Good Intent: 4

False Call: 17


Thursday, July 24 at approximately 3:36 pm:

E2 was dispatched on a medical call for a report of a patient not breathing.  While enroute, E4 was advised by Dispatch that bystander CPR was in progress.  E2 arrived on scene and personnel quickly made patient contact.  2 BFR crew members took over CPR while E2’s paramedics assessed the patient’s heart activity using an EKG and obtained control of the patient’s airway.  EMS arrived on scene as IO access was being established by E2 personnel.  The patient regained a pulse and was quickly moved to the ambulance for transport.  EMS transported the patient emergency traffic to a local hospital with 2 firefighters aboard to assist with post cardiac arrest care.  Once transportation was initiated E2 returned to service and quarters.


Tuesday, July 29 at approximately 8:02 am:

E1 was dispatched on a medical call for a report of a patient with a possible broken leg.  Firefighters arrived on scene at a local athletic field and made contact with the patient.   BFR personnel quickly stabilized the patient’s leg and evaluated the PT for the possibility of a head injury.  EMS arrived on scene as E1’s crew members finished assessing the patient for any other serious injuries.  The patient was loaded into the ambulance and BFR personnel assisted with further on scene care.  EMS transported the patient to a local hospital and E1 returned to service.
