October was a Busy Month for BFR

October is National Fire Prevention Month so the Brentwood Fire & Rescue Department took the opportunity to educate a number of school age children.  Each classroom learned vital information to know what to do in case of an emergency. Smoke detectors, calling 911, stop drop & roll, safe meeting places, and the phrase “get out and stay out” were among the lessons taught by Brentwood Firefighters. Along with the important fire safety information, students were given the opportunity to learn about the gear, equipment, and fire trucks utilized by the department.   Along with teaching in schools, Brentwood Fire & Rescue held Public Safety Day on Saturday, Oct 12 in the Kroger Shopping Center parking lot. Activities included apparatus displays, car seat installations, fire safety information, vehicle extrication demonstration, fire sprinkler protection demonstration, and various activities for kids. The goal behind public safety month is to make kids and adults aware of the dangers associated with fire and things they can do to protect themselves and their homes.
