BRENTWOOD FIRE & RESCUE DEPARTMENT TAKES DELIVERY OF NEW FIRE ENGINE

On October 8, 2013, the Brentwood Fire & Rescue Department took delivery of its newest Fire Engine.  Engine 2, a 2013 Rosenbauer Commander, is housed at Fire Station #2 at 1301 Wilson Pike.  The Rosenbauer replaces “old” Engine 2 which has served the City since 2000; well beyond the industry average of ten years.  That apparatus will be rotated into reserve status and remain available for use when a primary Engine is temporarily out-of-service for maintenance or repairs.

The Engine was purchased as part of the City’s long-term apparatus replacement program.  Rosenbauer was chosen for having submitted the lowest and best bid which came in well within the amount budgeted.  While this brand is new to Brentwood, Rosenbauer Firefighting Technology has been manufacturing municipal fire apparatus since 1979 and is currently the largest producer of fire apparatus in the world.  The Rosenbauer Company itself has been in business for over 145 years having begun production of hand-drawn apparatus in Leonding, Austria in 1866.  Brentwood’s Engine was manufactured in Lyon, SD.

Crews have been equipping and training on the new apparatus since its arrival, and Engine 2 was officially placed in service on Monday October 21st.  Within 24-hours it would respond to numerous medical calls as well as two heating-related structure fires.

Brentwood Fire & Rescue takes great pride in the quality of its fleet, which we feel is second to none.  The Department is grateful for a progressive City Administration and City Commission who work diligently to ensure that it is prepared and equipped to serve the citizens of, and visitors to, Brentwood in the most effective way possible.
