Here is a summary of Brentwood Fire and Rescues’ emergency
responses for the period of August 10 through August 15, 2013.
We responded to 48 emergency calls for service.
These calls can be broken down into the following

Here is an overview of significant events from this period’s
activities:
Monday, August 12 at approximately 9:43 am:
E2 was dispatched on a report of a fire alarm at an
elementary school. E2 arrived on scene
to find that all the staff and students had evacuated the structure. E2 personnel checked the school for hazards
in an attempt to find the cause of the alarm activation. No hazards were found and E2 personnel
reset the alarm system. An alarm system
technician arrived on scene and was informed of the situation. Once it was ensured that no hazards were
present E2 cleared the scene and returned to service.
Monday, August 12 at approximately 1:16 pm:
E2 was dispatched on a report of a medical call. Initial dispatch information indicated that a
patient had fainted on the bike trail.
E2 arrived on scene and immediately began providing patient care. Patient indicated they had been running along
the trail and passed out for a few seconds.
EMS arrived on scene and E2 personnel assisted with loading the patient
into the ambulance and providing further patient care. Once the patient had been transported E2
cleared the scene and returned to service.
Monday, August 12 at approximately 8:41 pm:
E2 was dispatched on a report of injuries from a fall. E2 arrived on scene and found a patient with
head injuries. Personnel began providing
patient care that included wound dressing as well as evaluation of the patient’s
level of consciousness. EMS arrived on
scene and patient care was transferred while E2 personnel assisted with loading
the patient into the ambulance. EMS
personnel requested a firefighter to ride to the hospital and assist with care
due to the patient’s extensive medical history and unstable condition. Once EMS transported the patient, the
remaining E2 crew members cleared the scene and returned to quarters.
Thursday, August 15 at approximately 1:46 pm:
E4, E2 and C3 were dispatched on a report of a burning odor
inside a home. Initial dispatch
information indicated a resident smelled an odor of burning plastic inside
their home but could not find the source.
E4 arrived on scene to find a two story home with nothing showing. E4 established command and entered the home
to investigate. E4 crew members found a
burned out light in a closet that was hot to the touch and emitting an odor of
burning. Command cancelled all other
responding units. E4 crew members turned
off power to the light and removed the fixture from the closet. E4 advised the homeowner to have the light
replaced by an electrician. No further
hazards were found and E4 cleared the scene.
